New Year Plans
Happy New Year!
I hope your 2017 has got off to a flying start.
Are you a resolutions kind of person? I’m afraid I’m not; the chill and darkness of early January always seems to be the worst possible time to try and give something up. I plan to fully embrace red wine and chocolate until the clocks change! I do promise to start running again next week though - I’ve done absolutely no excercise at all since Christmas!
Plans though, I have plenty of plans! I want to make 2017 the best year ever for my little business. I started making a list of thing’s I’d like to achieve back in October and I thought I’d share a few of them with you, if nothing else to keep me accountable!
I was a little bit smug about this one as I was able to get the shop up and running with a lot less fuss than I expected. At the moment it only offer invitation suites and sample packs, but I plan to expand this over the next few months.
Secret Garden Collection
I feel like I’ve been trailing this for months! Samples are on their way to be photographed as we speak and I’m really excited to launch my new collection in the shop very soon. If you'd like to be the very first to know about the launch, you can sign up here.
Make more time to draw and get inspired
Sounds silly really doesn’t it? After all I run a creative business! If I’m not really disciplined, I find the day-to-day running of things can expand like a gas to fill the time available. This year I plan to set aside time regularly to spend on drawing - even just for its own sake - and getting out into the world to find inspiration.
Take on inspiring commissions
Alongside my stationery collections, I plan to start accepting a small number of bespoke wedding commissions. I hope to work with some inspiring couples on briefs that really get my creative juices flowing. There’s quite a lot of detail I need to iron out: pricing, workflow and making sure the whole process runs really smoothly, but I hope to be able to take on my first bespoke client by the end of this year. If you’re interested in a bespoke commission, do get in touch; I’d be delighted to discuss your plans.
The Tiny Card Company has been my brand for about 10 years now, and it’s been though a few changes in that time. My horizons for the business are so much broader now, I feel like it’s time to change things up. The ‘tiny’ that felt cute, quirky and incredibly appropriate when I was working full-time and only able to commit a handful of hours each week, now feels limiting and doesn’t quite fit the direction I want to take. Rebranding will be another long-term project: I really want to put the time into doing my research.
So I’m hoping for big things from 2017! I guess I’d best head off and get cracking!
