Work in Progress: Abstract Seedheads

Hello, how are you? We're just back from our campervan travels round Wales, and now my head is full of epic coastal scenery. More of that soon, once I’ve had a chance to whittle down the hundreds of photographs of deserted beaches to a more sensible number!

Today I’d like to share with you some drawings I’ve been working on.

I started on these just before our break, but coming back to them with fresh eyes, I’m still quite excited about their potential. I'd love to know what you think. Based on some photographs I took back in the depths of winter of wildflower seedheads, backlit and frosted. The forms are much simplified, but I hope they retain a trace of their organic beginnings. In terms of print, I’m really interested to explore light and shade through layering inks, hopefully capturing a little of that dawn light magic.
